These examples reflect scams specifically targeting people in our area. However, scammers use a wide range of tactics. Feb. 19, 2026 | Spoofed Phone Number | Call & Text Scam Attempt

Feb. 19 | A caller spoofed our Garden City phone number to make calls and send text messages claiming to be from the Western State Bank "Treasury Department." He said he wanted to verify ACH transactions. Both customers and non-customers were called.

Dec. 3, 2025 | Phone Call Impersonating WSB

An individual received a phone call from the "Western State Bank Protection Department" regarding a debit to her account. The caller then requested her online banking login details.

Nov. 20, 2025 | Spoofed Phone Number Scam Attempt

Nov. 20 | We were informed that a caller spoofed our 800 number and claimed to be a WSB employee. They attempted to verify "transactions" with one individual, and asked about payroll deductions with another. Both customers and non-customers were called.

Oct. 23, 2025 | Text Message Scam Attempt

Oct. 23 | Individuals reported receiving text messages claiming to be from Western State Bank. The texts referenced Zelle transactions to individuals unfamiliar to the recipient.
