Dodge City Loan Officer Joins Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
Western State Bank Vice President & Commercial Loan Officer Brad Herter was recently selected to join the Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Herter was chosen largely due to his many contributions to the betterment of the community, and to his knowledge in business, finance and agriculture.

WSB Costume Contest Raises Money For Local Organizations
Western State Bank employees competed in their annual Costumes for a Cause costume contest on Halloween. Employees in Garden City, Colby, Goodland, St. Francis, and Leoti donned their most creative costumes and allowed the public to vote via Facebook. The winning teams received a chance to donate to a local nonprofit organization of their choice.  Our Goodland banking center won the banking center category, and the Underwriting/Loan Servicing team won the Garden City department contest. The Goodland FFA and Spirit of the Plains CASA each received a donation.

'Aliens' Land At Garden City's Annual Boo at the Zoo Event
Garden City employees created an out-of-this world alien-themed treat station at Lee Richardson Zoo's annual Boo at the Zoo event. They enjoyed handing out treats and interacting with thousands of local children and families.

Garden City New Accounts Team Teaches Local Middle School Students
Western State Bank New Accounts Supervisor Cassie Gonzales and Customer Care Representative Lisa Wagner visited Kenneth Henderson Middle School to educate students on personal finance.  Students learned about setting up an account, the importance of tracking deposits and withdrawals, digital money and fraud, and careers in the banking industry.

Garden City Team Wins YMCA's Annual Corporate Cup Challenge
Our Garden City employees and their families recently competed against other local organizations in the YMCA's Annual Corporate Cup Challenge. The Challenge included nearly 30 events over a span of three weeks, including pickle ball, water volleyball, darts, trivia, rowing, hillbilly golf, basketball and more. At the end of the challenge, WSB claimed the victory with the highest number of points.

Goodland Team Draws A Crowd at NWKTC's Main Street Crawl
Our Goodland staff had a great time at the 2023 Main Street Crawl, welcoming college students to the community. Our station featured an ax throwing activity and plenty of giveaways. Thank you to everyone at Northwest Kansas Technical College for organizing the event.

Western State Bank Announces Classic Car Winner

Wrapping up a summer of 50th anniversary celebrations, we drew the name of our anniversary classic car winner: Ana Enfield of St. Francis, Kan. Enfield is now the proud owner of a 1973 Mercury Cougar Convertible.

We received more than 3,500 entries, with just over 6% of entries coming from St. Francis.
