Between September 24 and September 28, 2026, Western State Bank received multiple calls regarding suspicious cashier’s checks mailed to recipients in several states.

The checks appeared to have been issued by our St. Francis banking center and included accurate bank contact information. However, the checks were fraudulent and were not issued by Western State Bank.

At this time, we do not know how widespread this scam may be. If you receive a cashier’s check you were not expecting, or something about the circumstances feels unusual, stop before depositing or using the funds and independently verify the check with the issuing bank.
