May 15, 2026 | Employee Impersonation via FaceTime | Debit Card Scam Attempt
debit card fraud facetime scam attempt

On May 15, we were informed that more than one individual received a phone call from someone claiming to be a WSB fraud department employee, though the 800 number shown was not a WSB phone number. The caller claimed there was suspected fraud on the customer's card and then asked the customer for their debit card number just to "verify" that their card had not been compromised. They also FaceTimed the customer.

Remember: bank employees will never reach out to customers to request sensitive information over the phone. Western State Bank also does NOT use FaceTime. Please hang up and call your local banking center if ever in doubt.
