On July 7, we were informed that an individual received a phone call from someone claiming to be a WSB fraud department employee. Though the phone call appeared to be coming from Western State Bank's actual Garden City phone number (620-275-4128), the call was not from Western State Bank. The caller said the individual's debit card had been compromised and and even knew the last 4 digits of the customer's debit card number. He then attempted to obtain the pin number.
The scammer did not want the customer to look at her bank account or online banking for up to 48 hours.
