Financial App Connections Are Getting an Upgrade

Improved Security for Financial App Connections

Western State Bank is upgrading how outside financial apps and services connect to WSB accounts.

Many people use apps and services to help manage their money, including QuickBooks, TurboTax, Venmo, Cash App, budgeting tools, financial planning platforms, payroll-related services and more. This upgrade allows WSB customers to connect many outside financial apps without sharing online banking credentials and with more control over what account information is shared.

Already connected your WSB account to an outside app?

If you previously connected your WSB account to an outside financial app or service, you may be asked to reconnect or reauthenticate your account. This is expected and is part of WSB’s security upgrade.

We recommend completing the reconnection process as soon as possible once you are prompted. This can help avoid interruptions with transaction imports, bookkeeping, budgeting, payroll-related services, tax tools, payment apps or other connected services you use.

To reconnect, open the app or service directly and follow the steps provided there. For your security, avoid clicking links from unexpected emails or text messages.

Using Intuit, QuickBooks or TurboTax?

If you use Intuit services, such as QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll or TurboTax, you may need the following when reconnecting your WSB account:

  • Access to your Intuit, QuickBooks or TurboTax account credentials
  • Access to the phone number or email address that receives your WSB security code
  • Permission to view the WSB accounts you want to connect
  • Enough time to review and select which accounts you want the app to access

For business accounts, please make sure the person completing the reconnection has the correct access before starting. This is especially important if the connection is used for bookkeeping, payroll support, ACH reconciliation, cash management or other time-sensitive business needs.

A Quick Security Reminder

Western State Bank will never ask you to share your online banking password or security code with us.
If you receive an unexpected email or text asking you to reconnect an account, the safest option is to open the app or website directly instead of clicking a link.

If you have questions or need help, please contact your local Western State Bank banking center. We’ll be happy to assist you.
