Dec. 2: Join Us in Backing Colby & Goodland Community Initiatives
Join Us in Supporting Unique Community Initiatives in Goodland and Colby
Western State Bank is proud to support several Match Day efforts across the region—each designed to strengthen local organizations, invest in youth, and keep charitable dollars right here in our communities. This year, our Goodland and Colby banking centers are taking part in especially meaningful ways.
Goodland: Matching Donations for the 4-H Shotgun Fund
For Sherman County’s Sherman County Gives Match Day, our Goodland Banking Center is stepping up in a big way:
WSB will match every donation made to the 4-H Shotgun Fund, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.
This fund will help build a new sporting clays course—something not available within 150 miles of Goodland. The new facility will offer expanded training opportunities, safer practice options, and a high-quality space for local youth to develop their skills and confidence. It will also serve as a major draw for the region, supporting youth development and encouraging community growth.
Sherman County Gives takes place December 2, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Price Convention Center.
Online donations will be accepted from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on the 2nd, with the foundation’s website switching to the online giving form at midnight.

Colby: Empowering 5th Graders Through Philanthropy
In Thomas County, our Colby banking center is helping support the county’s first-ever Match Day in a way that inspires the next generation.
Every 5th grade student in Thomas County will receive $10 from Western State Bank to donate to the organization of their choice.
Thanks to the Patterson Foundation, each student’s $10 gift will also be matched dollar for dollar, doubling their impact.
The Thomas County Community Foundation is visiting classrooms across the region to teach students about Match Day and introduce them to the participating nonprofits. This hands-on experience helps young people learn what philanthropy means—and shows them that their contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
Donations can be made online at GrowThomasCounty.org or in person at the Thomas County Office Complex from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on December 2.

Our Broader Commitment to Match Days Across Western Kansas
Beyond these two special initiatives, Western State Bank proudly supports additional Match Day events throughout the region through financial contributions that help sustain community foundation match pools. This ensures participating organizations receive the greatest benefit possible.
Nonprofits from Finney County and surrounding areas will also participate in a Match Day event on Dec. 2. Their event is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City. Visit the Western Kansas Community Foundation's website for more information and to donate:
